Put together by a powerful ancient civilization, nobody actually knows the purpose of the huge, ever-rotating artifact on the surface on the moon. Some say it's simply a device for keeping time - some say it has a deeper, religious meaning. The device has remained there for aeons, reliably counting hours and millennia. It's a trusted companion of nightly travellers, and a spooky reminder of our own mortality. There are no signs of its builders on the surface of this planet. Some say it might still be there at the end of the world, reflecting the last rays of our sun.

Some day it will stop.

Very nice! I also like the myriad meanings that are hidden in this. When will the clock stop? Will it go on forever? All those really make me think about our world too. What if we had a huge clock in the sky, how much time would it have left?

I really like these slightly weird but deeply thoughtful pieces of yours. This is definetly going into my favourites. ^^
