Doll

You wake up, or at least think that you do, feeling that something is wrong. There is a presence that doesn't belong to the room, a room lit only by the dim reflection of street lights filtered through the curtains. You sit up, and there it is, in front of you, just floating there in midair, staring. Your heart beats wildly, and you start to gasp for air. You don't know what it is, why is it there, or what will it do to you. It doesn't matter if it's real or not. The episode passes, but you can't go back to sleep. Not before really convincing yourself it wasn't there. It takes minutes, you get sweaty and go to the kitchen to cool off and get something to drink. You roll up under the blanket, feeling unsafe in your own bed. Monsters down there, huh - it's a little kids' problem, isn't it? It's almost ridiculous.

It seems like I'm repeating some of my old work now. This particular mental image appeared before me multiple times though, so it would've been a shame not to even try to translate it to pixels. In the end, I think I've done fairly well - I hope you catch some of the feeling too. Just don't let it stay with you. Sleep well, and all that.
